The shortlist our records give for CNC milling in aluminium in the UK. Each fact was read on the supplier's own public pages on the date shown.

What you get back

  • Suppliers stated to offer your process, in alphabetical order

It names five UK companies whose own pages publish both capabilities.

  • For every fact: the source, the date and who states it

Their machining details and source links are together in one table.

  • What is unknown, listed as unknown

When you need quotes for a specific part, we can handle the supplier enquiries under the terms below.

  • A table you can set beside your own contact list

A shortlist shows which facts are published and where, and which ones you will have to ask for.

Why a table

We read the public pages of ten UK CNC machining companies on 11 October 2026. Together they stated fewer than half of the eleven facts we looked for.

  • Places and processes

    10 of 10

Every company page gives a location

Nine state CNC milling and eight state turning.

  • Materials

    6 of 10

Six pages name aluminium as a material

Five name stainless steel and five an engineering plastic.

  • Lead time and tolerance

    1 of 10

    One page states a tolerance

Three state a lead time; batch sizes in numbers stand on none.

How the reading was done

We read each company's own pages on 11 October 2026. A fact counted only where the page states it plainly.

No page showed a date for a fact, and none of the 51 counted is confirmed: confirming means asking the supplier, which no page does.

A shortlist shows which facts are published and where, and which ones you will have to ask for.

How it works

Start with the ready aluminium-milling shortlist.

Start with the ready shortlist

Open five UK companies publishing aluminium machining and CNC milling, with their process details and source links. No email or signup is needed.

Compare what the suppliers publish

The ready list includes machining details you can use to narrow an enquiry. For another process or material, the catalogue below shows published facts and gaps; its sources are dated.

Get answers and quotes for your part

The paid job takes the supplier enquiries off your hands: written answers about your agreed part, comparable quotes and a named first choice with its reason. For the initial brief, leave drawings, part numbers and confidential details out of our form and hello@makestry.com. An accurate part quote may need a fully dimensioned drawing or 3D model. Do not send technical files to Makestry; supply required files directly to each supplier through a suitable channel you and the supplier agree and are authorised to use.

What each label means

  • Confirmed

We checked it with the supplier, on the date shown.

  • Self-reported

The supplier says so on the page we link. Nobody else has checked it.

  • Needs reconfirming

It was stated on the date shown and is due a fresh check. Ask before relying on it.

  • Unknown

We found no statement either way. It does not mean no.

What it costs

A first shortlist

No charge

There is no charge for a first shortlist. Read the ready aluminium-milling shortlist, or choose another process in the catalogue. Built from what suppliers publish. Supplier contact is not included.

Read the aluminium shortlist

A confirmed shortlist, for one brief

GBP 2,900

We check the brief against what each supplier states, and each supplier confirms in writing whether it can make the part. We ask each listed supplier for the missing facts agreed for your brief and report dated answers, quotes and gaps. Our first choice is named with its reason. You pay when the confirmed shortlist is delivered, not before. If fewer than two suppliers confirm they can make your part and quote for it within ten working days after we accept your brief by email, there is no charge. A "cannot make this" does not count. Silence or an unclear reply does not count. The fee is due only after we send the day-ten update holding written able-and-quoted answers from at least two suppliers. Late answers do not undo the no-charge term. Nothing is paid before the day-ten update is sent. Where the update holds written able-and-quoted answers from at least two suppliers, we invoice the fee and you pay by card, in pounds, through a link sent by email.

What a shortlist is not

Is a shortlist a ranking?

The order is alphabetical, not a ranking. No supplier pays to appear.

Does a label certify anything?

A self-reported fact is not a certification, and nothing on a shortlist is a promise of quality, capacity, price or delivery.

What does a shortlist cover?

Shortlists cover CNC milling and turning in small batches from suppliers in the UK. A supplier missing from a shortlist has not been judged.

If you are a supplier

If your company is on a shortlist, you can ask to see what it says about you. Write to hello@makestry.com. We correct what is wrong, and we remove the record if you ask.

Sample report

One brief, four lines: CNC milling, aluminium, 50 units, tightest tolerance ±0.1 mm, North West.

Our first choice is Supplier A: its stated tolerance of ±0.05 mm covers ±0.1 mm, and its written quote of GBP 1,240 for 50 units is the lower of the two.
